I have recently been contacted by the developers of a new WordPress plugin that claims it is the only SEO plugin that you will ever need. The plugin aims to rival the two most popular plugins on the market at the moment – All in One SEO and Yoast.
The developers built the plugin because they recently took on a client whose on-page SEO was in a mess and there were thousands of pages that had no Meta data or image alt tags. The developer was unable to find any off-the-shelf plugins that could help to resolve the on-page issues in a short amount of time, so decided to develop one themselves.
After building the plugin and Beta testing it, the developers decided that it would be beneficial to release the plugin to the public and it is now available to download free from the WordPress repository here – Little Hippo.
We decided to test the plugin on one of our sites that we knew had some on-page issues such as images without alt tags and some missing Meta data. On first installing the plugin we were pleased to see that there is a dashboard which shows all of the on-page issues within one place. You can then navigate to view all of your pages, posts and custom pages all in one place and begin editing them without the need to go to individual pages. I can see that this will definitely save people time when trying to clean up their on-page SEO issues.
All-in One SEO plugin and Yoast both have bulk editors, however, they seem much more limited compared to what Little Hippo can do.
There are many features that this plugin doesn’t have that the main WordPress plugins do, but I believe that having a simpler plugin without the need for confusing features will appeal to many, especially those that are new to WordPress and the usage of plugins for their website.
Other features include the ability to link your Google Analytics, an option to make all outbound links no-follow and the ability to choose your bounce rate time out.
The developers have said that Little Hippo integrates with both All-in-One and Yoast, meaning that when you make changes, they automatically update directly in the settings of the other plugins. I have not tested this yet so am unable to comment on how reliable this part of the plugin is.
I will need to test the plugin further but my initial testing has been very positive. This seems a great SEO plugin and would certainly suit WordPress newbies and those that have very cluttered on-page Meta and image issues.
